Job Title: Town Marshal
Location: Town of Fairland
Position Type: Part-Time
The Town of Fairland is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Town Marshal.
The Town Marshal is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing local and state laws, and serving the residents of Fairland with professionalism and integrity. This position plays a vital role in protecting the community and supporting a safe, welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce town ordinances and applicable state laws
- Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect criminal activity
- Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and public concerns
- Conduct investigations and prepare detailed reports
- Issue citations and make arrests when necessary
- Attend court proceedings as required
- Build positive relationships with residents and local businesses
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Law enforcement certification through the State of Indiana (or ability to obtain certification)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior law enforcement experience
- Knowledge of local government operations
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience.
